History of the Department of Medical Research
The Department of Medical Research was established on February 1, 2005 to fulfill one of the important missions of a medical center. Sustained efforts have been made to promote and refine clinical and translational research. On November 16, 2006, the staff size was expanded to cope with the ongoing requirement for high-quality research. All of our members devoted themselves to attaining the goals of E-Da Hospital to provide an optimal research environment with adequate space and state-of-the-art research facilities for the hospital personnel, trainees, and students.
In 2006, the Department of Medical Research started funding individual research projects at E-Da Hospital which was later subsidized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in August 2007. In September 2007, we started promoting intramural integrated research projects to promote collaboration in research and meet the increasing needs of our staff. Besides, research seminars and lectures are regularly held and research symposia are organized annually. To equip our staff and trainees with up-to-date knowledge and skills in the world of research, seminars in statistics, techniques of animal experimentation, and education in the field of research are also regularly arranged. On the other hand, to further promote research at E-Da Hospital, a publication reward policy has been established to encourage the publication of outstanding academic studies at our institute. Furthermore, E-Da Hospital offers subsidization to all staff who have successfully applied for funding from the national research institutes.
It is our wish that, with the help of the Department of Medical Research, our staff, trainees, and students can reinforce their knowledge and skills in healthcare research to keep abreast of the current standard of medical development to provide up-to-date, high-quality, and safe care for our patients. Last but not least, the Department continues to make relentless efforts to promote industry-academia-government collaboration for technology transfer in order to enhance the global competitiveness of the country and to benefit the general public.
